Responding San Bernardino Deputy Involved in Fatal Pedestrian-car Accident

Following a series of fatal accidents involving police patrol cars and pedestrians, another deputy was again reportedly involved in a pedestrian-car accident.

According to police reports, a San Bernardino deputy who was trying to respond to a radio call struck a pedestrian who crossed in front of him.

Initial investigations revealed that the deputy was heading south on Cedar Avenue to respond to a radio call he received at around 9:15 in the evening. Meanwhile, the pedestrian was then crossing outside a marked crosswalk.

Consequently, the collision brought a strong impact which caused the pedestrian to be thrown into the air. The pedestrian was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene. However, his identity was not yet revealed pending notification of his family.

So far, the incident is currently under investigation. Accordingly, authorities are trying to determine whether the patrol car’s siren or signal lights were on during the incident.

Meanwhile, although it is strictly required that a patrol car should be sending signals like sirens or lights whenever they are responding to a call, pedestrians are likewise required to use the proper or legal crosswalks when crossing down the streets to avoid such accidents, reminded some Los Angeles injury lawyers.

Lindsay Lohan Likely to Face Charges Resulting from her June California Car Accident

According to a celebrity news website, embattled actress Lindsay Lohan could face jail time if convicted following her inconsistent story regarding her car accident that occurred in California several months ago.

Previous reports claimed that several witnesses to the crash have reportedly testified to police that Lohan was the one driving her Porsche when the same crashed into an 18-wheeler truck in California Pacific Coast Highway last June 8.

However, Lohan insisted that she was not the one driving the car when the accident occurred. She claimed that her assistant was the driver during that time, which her assistant denied.

Also, in some news reports, Lohan allegedly admitted that the she was the driver of the car but affirmed that it was not her fault since the truck cut off her rented Porsche car.  In addition, in another news report, Lohan accordingly put the blame on the Porsche’s brake, which allegedly failed to work properly.

Subsequently, Porsche, together with the Sta. Monica Police Department, conducted an investigation following Lohan’s accusation and eventually found out that the car’s brakes did not really malfunction at the time of the incident.

Accordingly, a case will be filed by the Sta. Monica City Attorney against Lohan within this week.

Unfortunately, the ‘Mean Girls’ star is still currently under probation from her previous misdemeanor. If she will be convicted this time, she would likely face another jail time, explained by a car accident attorney in Los Angeles who has monitored the young actress’ previous troublesome years.

Man in Wheelchair Killed in Car Accident

Photo originally owned by The Press Enterprise.
A man in a motorized wheelchair who was crossing at an intersection in Eastvale, California was killed after being hit by a car, reports said.

According to Riverside County sheriff’s officials, the accident was reported at around 8 in the morning last August 19. The accident occurred at the busy intersection of Hammer Avenue and Limonite Avenue.

Based on initial investigation, the car was traveling eastbound on Limonite when it struck the middle-aged man in a wheelchair who was then crossing the street heading south at Hamner.

Shortly thereafter, the driver of the car stopped its vehicle, but was not ticketed nor arrested, according to Sgt. James Woodland of Riverside County Sherriff’s Office.

Investigating authorities did not immediately release any information about the man, but witnesses at nearby establishments identified and described the man as a cheerful middle-aged guy despite his disabling condition. Furthermore, employees from a nearby shopping center claimed that the man was a regular customer at the grocery and always had a smile on his face.

While the investigation was ongoing, deputies closed the intersection and re-opened it at around 1:30 in the afternoon the same day.

Reports said that several pedestrians in the area claimed that such intersections are dangerous, since a lot of motorists fail to reduce speed and observe proper safety precautions when approaching or crossing the area.

According to a Los Angeles accident attorney, such observations are true, given the huge number of undisciplined motorists. Unfortunately, despite the alarming numbers of fatal accidents that occur in intersections, as well as the strict traffic laws enforced by traffic regulators, motorists still fail to make positive changes regarding their driving behaviors. The results of such negligence are debilitating, and sometimes fatal, vehicle accidents.
